- I had the same problem to the Nth degree with my PCMCIA Sporster,
- I'm about to tackle USR with hopes of getting some kind of a refund.
- I finally gave up and bought a $90 cheaper PCMCIA from New Media
- which runs wonderfully and never disconnects.
-
- Under WFWG 3.11 I can go sometimes a half hour and then the disconnects
- start. Then I get them every 5 minutes or less. When I tried to install the
- Sportster PCMCIA on a new laptop with Windows95 I couldn't stay on more
- than 90 seconds!
-
- Problem is the ONE time I got any tech help they insisted at USR that it
- must be my settings (init. COMM or IRQs) so I kept perservering until I'd
- gone past the 30 day return to CDW where I bought it. I told them it seemed
- to get very hot and they said that was "normal".
-
- I've lost DAYS on this thing!
- I recommend returning it while you can.
-
- I've had 2 older, slower Sportsters in my PCs that never gave me any
- trouble - a 9600 and a 14,4 - begins to look as if either the quality has
- gone way down OR they just don't know how to make 28,8 modems!
